On May 6th, 2014 we launched our new premium audio brand, Master & Dynamic. To celebrate, we hosted a capacity event immersed in sound and creativity at Skylight Modern in New York City. The space was transformed into an experiential sound and art gallery for the evening as we held our first ever Synthesis Session.
Sight and sound were integrated into an amazing sensory experience, as a VIP crowd from the worlds of music, fashion, and art were granted the first opportunity to experience Master & Dynamic’s headphones. Guests wore our flagship MH40 headphones while interacting with five geo-metal sound sculptures in various interpretations of the M&D hexagon logo designed by Fake Love, an award-winning experiential agency. The sculptures came to life through capacitive touch: as guests touched each sculpture, unique sounds and visuals were generated, reflecting the intensity and vibe of the partygoers.
We hosted a Paddle8 powered silent auction of a new painting commissioned by Master & Dynamic titled Orders From Corporate (Randall’s Island?) by celebrated contemporary artist, Nate Lowman, just days before the Frieze Art Fair in Randall’s Island, NYC. The 60×40 inch two panel canvas was inspired by the synthesis session between Mr. Lowman and Majical Cloudz. All proceeds from the auction benefited annual support of arts education at Harlem Village Academies, a K-12 public charter school district in Harlem, NYC with five schools.
DJ Tennessee Thomas kicked off the night as guests enjoyed a Master & Dynamic curated playlist at two custom-built listening stations. Later in the evening, crowds gathered as electronic sound artists Majical Cloudz performed a live set, followed by a sound clash featuring DJs Fatima Al Qadiri and Hot Sugar. Guests were invited to post about the event on social media using the hashtag #SoundIsCreativity.
